Texas Law mandates that the course be at least 4-6 hrs in length to exclude the range qualification. We start the class at 8:00 AM and generally finish around 1:30 PM. It is a long Saturday but at the end of the day the only thing that you the student needs to do is submit the packet that we provide you to the state and generally within 28 days you will receive your Concealed Handgun License. If you have filled out your information on the TXDPS web site and received your pre-filled out packet bring it to class, otherwise we provide the packets and there is no need for you to request one from the state. If you don’t have Ear & Eye Protection, it will be provided for you. Please bring your handgun (.32 Cal Minimum) and 100 rounds of ammunition, 50 are required for qualification the extra 50 are for those that fail to qualify the first time. YOU MAY BRING YOUR OWN AMMO AS LONG AS IT IS US MADE WITH BRASS CASINGS, NO RELOADS. If you currently don’t have a handgun you can rent one of mine for $30 which includes the ammunition.
Renewals: If you are within 6 months of your CHL expiring or your licensed expired no more than 1 year ago AND you have received your renewal packet from the state you are eligible for the continuing education class.
